John Maas

After 8 years off John has returned to the seat, taking over the wheel of Jered's Late Model. John had 2 late model starts in 2002 and 2003. Jered will become the crew chief while he is attending college and is in the works of getting back to racing.

John began racing in 1990 in Street Stocks. He raced in Kansas, Colorado, and New Mexico. In 1999 he won his first main event, and decided the next year he was going to be the champion. He won the championships at I-76 Speedway in 2000 and 2001 along with 22 main event wins and 15 trophy dash wins. He was the man to beat and not just locally, he was a contender at big national races.

In 2002 he raced a limited schedule to help Jered, but came away with a victory. Later that year he raced a Dirt Late Model at the Fall Classic with his street stock motor. In the main event he moved from about 15th to 6th before the transmission let go.

In 2004 he hit the track with a IMCA dirt Modified and started out of the box with success. By mid-season  he was 3rd in points and had collected a few heat wins along with a 3rd place feature finish. He limited his schedule for the summer but through the winter series races he collected more heat wins and top 5 runs in main events. In 2005 he ran a limited schedule but hit bigger races to try and avoid getting tore up so much around home. The next season he only raced twice and had bad luck.

He is now back behind of a late model racing with BST. He ran 4 races in 2014 and is looking for a longer season in 2015!
